Trip Overview

Island Peak (Imja Tse, 6,189 m) is one of Nepal's most celebrated trekking peaks, named by Eric Shipton's 1952 expedition because it appeared as an island of rock rising from a sea of ice when viewed from Dingboche.

The climb combines the iconic Everest Base Camp trek with a genuine high-altitude mountaineering experience. You follow in the footsteps of legendary expeditions through Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, and Dingboche before branching off to Island Peak Base Camp.

The summit ridge involves a fixed-rope section with 60-degree ice slopes, providing genuine technical climbing that rewards the effort with jaw-dropping views of Lhotse's South Face, Nuptse, and Makalu. Our guides are UIAA-certified and have each summited Island Peak dozens of times, ensuring the highest safety standards on the mountain.
